January 11, 2011 update: Searches can now be performed using either version 2.0 or 1.4 of the IPhOD by selecting its search page. If you experience any problems with the new online search functions, please contact: Kenny Vaden.

Searching the IPhOD Online

The IPhOD online search tools allow you to find words or pseudowords with their IPhOD values. There are three search functions to obtain IPhOD values, which can be performed on the current release of IPhOD (version 2.0) or the previous release (version 1.4). All searches performed prior to January 11, 2011 used version 1.4. Information about the two versions or variables included in IPhOD are on the details page. Click the following link for the CMUPD glyph key.

IPhOD Search tools:

1. Word list (version 2.0, version 1.4): looks up IPhOD values for a list of words specified by the user.

2. Word parameters (version 2.0, version 1.4): find words and IPhOD values within user-specified criteria ranges.

3. Pseudoword parameters (version 2.0, version 1.4): find pseudowords and values within user-specified criteria ranges.

Couldn't find it? If a word or pseudoword was not found using a search function above, then you can calculate new values (biphoneme probability, positional probability, or neighborhood density) based on your own CMU transcriptions, entered into the online calculator. Please note that there are two versions of the calculator utility - one for version 2.0 (newer) and one for version 1.4 of the database (older).
